On a cold January afternoon, Delaware, Ohio, feels almost nothing like Cajun Country until you walking into J.Gumbo’s Delaware County at 9 North Sandusky Street.
The menu features a varied blend of Cajun classics served over rice. My personal favorite is a combination of voodoo chicken’s hot and spicy with the almost sweet bumble bee stew over rice with bread.
D.C. Cajun is the local entity that runs the Delaware location. Richard Upton is the leader of this restaurant and its strongest piece of marketing.
Richard is a great asset to the Delaware community. An amazing person that has a heart in helping those that need it. From his original mission to create an opportunity for those with challenges to learn the food-service industry to the hundreds of community-based fundraisers that have taken place in his location over the years.
If you don’t know Richard, that’s reason enough to swing in and enjoy a lunch or dinner.
J.Gumbo’s as a chain was founded by Billy Fox Jr. when he opened the Louisville, Kentucky, store in 2005. It has grown to about a dozen stores covering five states.
J.Gumbo’s is open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday and closed Sunday.
