The former Delaware County Bank drive through branch location at William and Franklin Streets has been sitting idle for years. That is until this month, if all goes well for First Citizens National Bank.
First Citizens National Bank plans to open its first Delaware, Ohio, location at the facility with plans to expand it into a full-service branch in the future. This would be First Citizens second foray into Delaware County with its Powell location at the corner of Sawmill Parkway and Powell Road.
The bank has a storied history dating all the way back to August 15, 1863 when a group of investors in the Upper Sandusky and Harpster area received charter number 90 to open First National Bank in Upper Sandusky. Over the years the bank consolidated and merged with Citizens Bank, Nevada Deposit Bank, Village Bank of Wharton, and Diamond Savings in Carey. The Powell office opened in 2000 and the Marion branch welcomed its first customers in 2002.
First Citizens Bank will be opening its location in March 2021 if all planning and construction goes to plan. So keep your eyes open for the location to change and make big steps forward.
