DelOH 365 #8: Eclectic Diner & Sweeterie

Eclectic Diner & Sweeterie looks just like a diner should. Situated along Columbus Pike (US 23) just north of Delaware, Ohio, the diner is today’s stop on the DelawareOH 365 tour.

The diner has been in the location for about 15 years but sat vacant for many of them until this past fall when Eclectic Diner quietly opened its doors.

Doors may have opened quietly, but there is nothing demure about the food. It may be typical diner fare but it isn’t just another “insert chain delivery operation here” restaurant. You know the ones … where the burgers are frozen and you could be in Bucyrus or Boston and it tastes exactly the same. Anyhow, I digress. The meat comes from Lexington, Ohio’s Stover Farms — they also have a retail location in Powell, Ohio — and all the deserts are made fresh in store daily.

For example, stopped in the other day and the “featured” pie was a Caramel Cream with vanilla sea salt. “It was amazing!” the CEO commented. She also made a similar comment about the cinnamon rolls, “those were the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had,” Gretchen Boyce commented.

That’s high praise.

The food is quality and the price is reflective. $10 for breakfast and $15 for lunch but then you pay that at the fast-food joints anymore.

Eclectic Diner & Sweeterie is located at 755 US 23 North in Delaware, Ohio. Hours are 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
