Delaware Ohio 365: Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant
19 East Winter Street, Delaware, Ohio
Mexican Restaurants are often the butt of jokes for the “order by number” menu and its cliche for serving the Midwestern version of Tex-Mex. However, Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant in historic downtown Delaware, Ohio serves as today’s DelawareOH365.com.
Mi Cerrito is different than many local Mexican restaurants in that all the entrees and dinners are made fresh and on site in Delaware, Ohio. I don’t know if the tortilla chips are made onsite or not, but in talking to the owner he said that all meals are made onsite – and he should know since most nights he’s the one in the kitchen doing the cooking.
One of the stand out points for Mi Cerrito is its “at your table” guacamole, where a server will make your guacamole in a large stone bowl with fresh ingredients right at your table. The cost is more than a traditional side-order of guacamole but the flavor is by far worth it and so amazing.
Mi Cerrito has all the regular Mexican expectations from chimichangas, enchiladas, burritos, and tacos at reasonable prices. A combination menu allows those unable to make a decision on a single item to mix-and-match items for $7.49 during dinner and from $3.75 to $6.25 during lunch.
Among my personal favorites is the chicken soup ($5.95) which is a great blend of chicken breast, rice, avocado, and pico de gallo along with fresh lime. But just stop down and make your own favorite!
Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant is located at 19 East Winter Street – across from the Strand Theatre – in historic downtown Delaware, Ohio.
