Several area police agencies will collect prescription drugs for safe disposal during the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The drug take-back events are intended to prevent abuse or misuse of prescription drugs no longer needed by their owners. Keep Delaware County Beautiful, the local recycling and litter prevention program, and the Delaware General Health District encourage residents to take advantage of these opportunities to dispose of drugs in an environmentally safe way. Flushing drugs down the drain can pollute water resources and should not be done.
Drug Take-Back sites in and near Delaware County participating in the Sept. 29 event include:
The Powell Police Department, 47 Hall St., Powell 43065.
The Kroger parking lot at 7100 Hospital Drive, Dublin 43016 (Franklin County Sheriff’s Office).
The Kroger parking lot at 55 W. Shrock Road, Westerville 43081 (Franklin County Sheriff’s Office).
The 19th-annual Old Time Farming Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19, at Memorial Park in Centerburg, Ohio.
The festival kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday with a parade and the fun continues all throughout the weekend. Among the other fun events include a horticulture show, antique tractors and machinery, crafts, musical entertainment, old-time demonstrations, family farm exhibit, games, and of course the annual old-fashioned Pie Auction on Saturday at 6 p.m. A complete list of events is available on the Web site.
Halfway Home will highlight the musical performances taking the stage on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. The band has performed at festivals and community concert series over the past five years, as well as in coffeehouses and roadhouses of varying degrees of repute. Wherever they play, the emphasis is on thoughtfully crafted arrangements of the music, whether it be an old familiar song with which the audience can sing along, one of their own originals, or their adaptation of a song written by any one of a number of contemporary songwriters. Throw in a good dose of spontaneity- musical or otherwise- and you’ve got the makings of a great evening!
