A hotel at I-71 and State Routes 36 and 37 in Berkshire Township has a new owner according to the Delaware County Auditor’s office.
America’s Best Inn & Suites, located at 7323 State Route 37 East in Sunbury, sold for $1,975,000. The property was purchased by Kautilya Berkshire Hotel LLC. The Kautilya Group operates the Hampton Inn located adjacent to the purchased property behind Bob Evans.
Big Walnut High School basketball will team up with Delaware County Humane Society for Hoops for the Humane Society.
The event run on Friday, January 22, from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the gymnasium in Sunbury, Ohio.
Big Walnut fans are asked to bring pet supplies and cash donations for the Humane Society of Delaware County animal shelter. Eagle players will deliver your donations to the shelter as part of their community service pledge.
Local trick-or-treat schedules haveÂ been announced. I’ll be on my porch in The Woods at Locust Curve on Saturday night from 6-8 p.m. handing out candy. It is one of my favorite nights of the year, all those scary ghosts and goblins coming by the house.
The Big Walnut Area Historical Society will host “What’s My Antique Worth?” on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Myers Inn in Sunbury.
Andrew Richmond and Kristin Crump from Garth’s Auction House in Delaware will give a short program on antiques, followed by an appraisal session where they will place value on items brought in by the audience.
The event is free and open to the public, however a $5 donation per item appraised will be collected. Appraisals are limited to three per family and will be done on a first-come first-served basis. Donations will be used to support the Big Walnut Historical Society.

Delaware’s Preservation Parks and the Delaware County District Library, Sunbury’s Community Library, and Ashley’s Wornstaff Memorial Library have partnered up to give kids a fun and educational way to spend the summer.
Letter boxes — a fun hobbey for thousands where you find a box with a stamp and then add it to your personal travel log — will be hidden at seven Preservation Parks this summer. Children who find all seven letterboxes will be entered into a drawing for prizes that include Columbus Zoo and Aquarium passes, gift certificates to Fundamentals and Beehive Books.
