The revolving door of pizza shops that were in the building at Lake Street and Central Avenue. Turns out they just needed the right type of food.
Red Door BBQ was launched in 2007 when two local BBQ pit bosses got together and started a concept that appears to have taken the Delaware and Columbus areas by storm. That old pizza shop at 81 Lake Street now gives off the savory aroma of smoked heaven as you pass through the area.
We had a wide variety for dinner with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket platters ($16.50) which comes with two sides and a drink. The only side that excited us was the homemade BBQ beans which had a deep flavor collection; the rest reminded us of Gordon Foods.
The pulled pork and brisket were solid. Not on par with Route 30 BBQ in Bucyrus, but a solid meal. The site bragged about their ribs being the best ever, sadly they were a long way from the best ribs I’ve had.
They offer a kids’ meal but it was not a “kid’s meal” in that it was macaroni and cheese with pulled pork. Sadly, it was a fancy concoction with the pulled pork across the top of the macaroni and cheese and drizzled in bbq sauce. Ms.O. took one look and it was a no go. Thankfully I’d ordered mac and cheese as a side so we swapped and avoided a major meltdown.
