35. Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Delaware

Very rarely when I go shopping do I get the feeling that I’m serving both my need to shop and to serve at the same time. But I get that feeling at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Delaware, Ohio.

The ReStore has grown since its humble founding in 2004 as an alternative place to purchase building materials into a whole-house location for goods. Items are mostly surplus from building sites or appliances that have life left but were replaced. It is a way to find material at a fraction of what it costs retail. And the best part? The proceeds help to support the Habitat for Humanity programs that lead to more homes being built. And more homes means more families with housing stability.

The ReStore’s new showroom at 1161 Columbus Pike offers a lot more space to showcase the donations.

What could you find at the ReStore?

  • Building Materials
  • Furniture
  • Household Goods
  • Appliances
  • Flooring
  • Doors & Windows
  • Lawn & Garden Equipment
  • Hardware
  • Cabinets
  • Plumbing
  • Lighting
  • Lumber
  • and much more

My favorite recent find was a truck-load of Oak floor shorts that I’ve been slowly turning into shiplap around our home.

The Restore is located at 1161 Columbus Pike – US 23 – on the south-side of Delaware, Ohio. The store is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 pm. and Sundays 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
