It may be 2,500 miles from Delaware, Ohio, to Venezuela; but its only a few miles to experience Venezuelan Street Food at The Porch restaurant in Lewis Center, Ohio.
During my visit after consultation with the owner and chef, chose to try a BBQ Patacon ($14). The Patacon is a sandwich made with twice-fried green plantains as the “bun”. The BBQ featured Plantain stuffed with shredded cheese, pulled pork barbecue, ham, pico de gallo, lettuce and sauces. It was a cornucopia of flavor that was just a little over-whelmed by the mustard but still a really nice treat.
The Porch is located at 5808 Columbus Pike in Lewis Center, Ohio. The restaurant is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from Noon – 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Friday from 1 – 8 p.m.; Sunday 1 – 7 p.m.
